1. When do you feel at your most attractive?

When I am naked in bed and just waking up in the morning

2. Do you notice women on the street? If so, what sort of women do you tend to notice or admire?

Yes, I notice women and I look at their figures and wish (often) that I loked like them. I admire slim women with subtle clothing. (not overt exposure, etc)

3. What are some things you admire about how other women present themselves?

Colors which complement their personal look and coloring. I like monochromatic in some ways. Like I saw a red-hair-d woman wearing a reddish top and darker reddish bottom and boots--she looked cool. I also admire women who are heavy or 'not perfect" wearing daring outfits; like they ae saying: "This is ME, I like me, take it or leave it, I dont care"---

4. Was there a moment in your life when something “clicked” for you about fashion or dressing or make-up or hair? What? Why did it happen then, do you think?

I am 57. When I was younger, in my 20s, I had an aunt who died and I was sent a bunch of her clothes; they were amazing vintage things she either made or bought---I loved them and they fit me. Every day I woud put one of those cool things on and get lots of comments and compliments. Later--(now) I dress for comfort and not "reaction". My big thing now is that, as a dark-brown hair person who has dyed-out the grays for 20 years..I have started to let the gray back in and it looks amazing. I love it.

5. What are some shopping rules you wouldn’t necessarily recommend to others but which you follow?

Sales: Buy something you might never have thought about before (if its on sale) then if it doesn't work, take it back. But take some risks.

I also try to not buy anything made in China...Quality suffers and sizes are unreliable.

6. What are some rules about dressing you follow, but you wouldn't necessarily recommend to others?

I try to dress to look slimmer even though I am slim. I wish I were freer to "show off". i would tell others to embrace their bodies. I jsut have never been to that place.

7. What is the most transformative conversation you have ever had on the subject of fashion or style?

When I was younger someone told be I shouldn't wear black, it didn't look good around my face. I used to wear almost all black. It was a hard lesson.

I am spontaneously careful...Cautiously optimistic, and a positive thinker with an edge that everything could fall apart at any moment.

9. Are there any clothing (or related) items that you have in multiple? Why do you think you keep buying this thing?

T-shirts. I keep thinking someday I will find a cute t-shirt which looks good on me. I teach fitness so I wear t-shirts every day. I hate them all. ;-)

10. Have you ever successfully given someone a present of jewelry or clothing that you continue to feel good about?

Oh yes! My husband and sons love my clothing choices for them, and my mom wears a necklace I gave her 5 years ago EVERY single day! I think she likes it...

11. Is there any fashion trend you’ve refused to participate in and why?

No trends for me. The trends are for the 20/30-somethings. I will add that I never ever will wear a heeled shoe over 1.5 inches. Ever.

12. Can you say a bit about how your mother’s body and style has been passed down to you, or not?

Not. My mom is tall (5'9") and I am short (5'4"), she is long-waisted and slim (no bust), I am short -waisted and curvy (bust). I always wanted to look like her (body) and she always wanted to look like me. (body). Luckily we ignore these things now.

13. Have you stolen, borrowed or adapted any dressing ideas or actual items from friends or family?

When I was younger I tried to emulate my mom's hippy-style Gypsy outfits. It was a bad look for me.

14. Was there a point in your life when your style changed dramatically? What happened?

I think after I had my kids I switched to not worrying about fashion. I wanted comfort, jeans and T-shirts. When I'd go out, I'd wear a dress or skirt, etc---bt I was totally jeans and t-s after kids.

20. In what way is this stuff important, if at all?

I have always wondered why I neer fit-in with the fashion-forward people to whom that mattered. I mean to whom fashion mattered. I just don;t "care"and yet--I care that I am lackong a gene or something. I eman, I dont even wear jewely although i have been given a lot over the years. It's almost like I am trying to negate my attractiveness by "not caring" and yet...i think I DO care. But I dont act on it partly b/c I dont know what ooks good on me...ya know?
