28. Would you say you “know what you like” in the area of fashion and clothing? If so, do you also know what you like in other areas of life, that is, are you generally good at discernment? Can you say where your discernment comes from, if you have it? Or if you don’t have it, why or why not?
Well, I do have certain preferences but I am open to suggestions. I feel that I am farely good at discernment and I believe that it comes from my certainty about various things
No. I don't notice objects very much. I think thoughts. Bodies are among the objects I don't notice.
I definitely know what I like with most areas of life. This is personal discernment. I think I have a good eye and ear--good taste--but others would beg to differ I'm sure. Two way street. I don't understand the fashion sense of some people as much as they are perplexed by mine.
Oh, I have discernment in spades. My husband would say excessively. I know what I like in every sphere.
I definitely know what I like in clothing & in most areas of my life. Generally I am quite discerning. I think that comes from my dad, he knows what he wants & sticks to it. He always encouraged us to be decisive & to stick to our guns.
I know better in clothing, but can be too eclectic in other areas to be efficient.
I don't know how to answer this question.
- I know what I like in the are of fashion.
- I'm good at discernment
- My discernment comes from education, the one I received at home, at school, and my myself reading about philosophy, economics, politics, learning languages...
Yes, I know what I like, and what I don't like.
I'm more intellectual, and have a good sense of discernment in other areas. Books, absolutely.
It comes from being well educated and well-read. I come from a family that valued education on both my mother's and father's side.
My mother's side is very intellectual and well-read. It includes 2 writers and 2 Unitarian ministers. I take after that side.
On my father's side, my grandfather was an artist, my grandmother a dress designer, and my father toyed with the theater. That exposure gave me an appreciation for creativity, but didn't make me a very creative myself.
Yes I do and I know what I like about life as well. I don't know where it comes from, by I think my dad taught me not to be a sheeple.
YES I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I LIKE IN MOST ALL ASPECTS OF MY LIFE.
COMES FROM MY MOTHER
I think I know what I like in fashion and clothing. Things I like are:
Black and white combinations: checks, houndstooth, stripes or polka dots
Paisley - love love love the look of paisleys
Bright pink - like fushia or magenta
My Cartier Watch
Nicely tailored suits made of good fabrics
I think I have opinions in other areas of my life too. I don't know where it comes from.
Yes, and yes but no.
I absolutely know what I like in all areas of my life. I have always known my own mind and there is little anyone can do to sway me. That's not to say I am rigid, because I am not, I can and do change when the mood strikes or I see the advantages of doing so.
I probably do not have as much discernment as others. I can see the pros and cons of every choice, and while I stand strong on established opinions, I also question myself constantly to be assess if new information has tipped the scales, or if the situation has changes. I am very good at anticipating upcoming challenges or inconsistencies, but terrible at making timely decisions... in clothing, home decorating, food prep... everything
Yeah. Yes. Oui.
Yes, but I'm not sure I want to know what I like. I also want to be surprised. I like that, too.
I am not great at discernment in other areas, or, alternately: I do things I "should" more often than I should.
Perhaps discernment is linked to self-concept. I think I am a certain type of person and I therefore think my actions should match. But in reality, I am infinite.
I think I am discerning. I definitely know what I like. I do a lot of research.
I know what I like in fashion. I think I have good taste.
I don't really know what I like for clothes, although it's more that I don't know how to translate what I like into a style that suits me. I have pretty good discernment elsewhere in life. Not sure why this alludes me -- probably because my figure is difficult to dress in a way that I'd like it to look.
I do know what I like when I'm shopping for clothes, but more than that I know what I'm going to wear. I used to be always buying things and thinking I'd become the sort of person who wore those sort of clothes. I always ended up back in a selection of jeans and jumpers.
I don't know if I'm discerning in other areas of my life, but I think I'm getting to know myself better as I get older. I think that's what being discerning is about, working out who you are and what you like and then sticking to those things.
