20. In what way is this stuff important, if at all?

It makes me the person I am.

i enjoy the design element of dressing and the tactile nature of making and wearing clothes. there's also social and political implications for how dressing happens- who benefits and who doesn't.

I love my baggy trousers for days when I really can't be bothered to make an effort or if I'm studying all day and just want to be comfortable.

How we present ourselves and how we perceive ourselves is a part of who we are. The more we talk about this stuff, the better perspective we can have on it.
Presentation is a form of power.

what is 'this stuff'? but i think fairly?

These leggings are my main bottoms at the moments since I'm taking both yoga and dance on different days. My T-shirt is special to me because it' from my old dance studio, where I danced for over 10 years. I never wear makeup (except for a costume). I spend enough time designing outfits that I feel like I don't need to spend even more on makeup. Also, I've observed how once a girl gets into the habit of wearing makeup, she (and the people around her) begins to think she looks wrong without it. I don't want that pressure for myself.

Anyway, I cannot be naked. And it speaks of who I am to some extent.

I knit the sweater myself. I like a lot of these jeans (dark colour, good fit) and I often wear a pair of black boots, these or some other pair.

I guess because style and clothes are quite personal and a reflection of the individual, it's interesting to find out the motives behind people's armour.

It is important because it is part of who I am, right now - in this moment, in this apartment in Singapore, running my own business - this is the woman I am. And everything it has taken to get here is condensed and reflected in how I show myself to the world.

it sort of feels comfortable

in that way, that it is an exception from the rule. i went to work in that dress.

This stuff is so important! It is a part of me. Aesthetics is community building, it is self-care, armor, choice. I think I have a signature look and it is hard to feel like myself sometimes without it. I love clothes / beauty. There is room for so much interpretation.

It is, feel good, look good, changes something

I think clothes are important because they do tell a lot about what you are like as a person. I think they indicate whether or not you conform, and whether or not you are comfortable with yourself. Because I work in a very corporate and traditional profession, clothes have been a great way for me to demonstrate the interests that I have outside of my career - I was once told that I looked as though I worked in an art gallery (purely on the basis of how I dressed) and funnily enough that was a massive compliment to me - I liked the fact that someone had, without realising it, picked up on the fact that I have a huge interest in the arts.

I like to have very little and the things I do keep are extremely important to my life, either as an essential or as a sentimental item.

Clothes are what people see first

It is what people see when they meet me. It is as much as part of me as my thoughts and emotions are. I choose to present a version of me everyday to the world and clothes are a part of that narrative.

Style is a little dash of beauty for the everyday, and I prefer to give it some thought. I enjoy putting together an outfit I find visually appealing and relevant to whatever aesthetic I happen to be drawn to at the moment. Dressing well also makes an impression.

I love it so it's awesome.

I look back on my old clothes and I feel such a disconnect. Right now I feel like me mostly, but that's becoming less and less centered around my appearance. That's not to be some enlightened better than other people thing it just happened and most of my friends look cooler than me and I am fine with that and it is all good. I used to be really anxious and would buy a lot of clothes to fill that time/void etc. and being slightly less anxious means I do that less.

hatchetman was given to me by a dear friend as well as the cross necklace. Black hair looks really good on me as well as the pixie cut. The hoops are part of my stage dressing. My eyelashes are HUGE so mascara makes them look fake

It's only important in the sense that we live in a world where people tend to wear clothes, and they do it every day. If you have to pick something, why not pick something that works for you? I don't feel it really matters beyond that. It's a luxury to be able to choose, and I take advantage of that, when I can.

Dressing is supremely important.
1. Clothes protect us from the elements
2. They identify us as being part of a tribe
3. Buying clothes supports people's livelihood and artistry
4. Wearing clothes supports creative expression
5. An article of clothing can transform someone
6. An article of clothing can create memories
7. Clothing can comfort
8. Clothing can seduce

Stuff is what you belong. No matter if it'0s expensive or not, but it's what you choose to buy. What you choose to wear. It's like a statement...I've decided to put on this or that, so this rappresents you in some ways.

This stuff?
See question 1-19.

Personal presentation is so highly charged and so deeply lived.

I think clothes tell a lot about who we are or who we aspire to be. We get judged basing on that.

I would say that my Bean Earrings and TAG watch are truly the only important items on me right now, as they were gifts from my parents and godmother, respectively.
