48. Do you find it comforting or constraining to have a uniform?
Comforting, if I like the team the work or the band.
Constraining and I make every effort to avoid it.
It's a relief that you don't have to think about it, and no one will complain about your style. But after a while it's very boring and you just dream about what you could be wearing. Two years in catholic school, all I did was think about the day I would eventually wear something of my own choosing to school.
I go back and forth on this. There's a beauty to not needing to worry about styling and what to wear, but there's also some fun in the individuality.
I've always wanted a uniform. In high school I was Vice President of the Student Council, and I tried to pass uniform legislation, forcing everyone to adhere to my plaid and tie dreams. I was met with disgust and speeches about freedom of expression, like I was trying to infringe upon their constitutional rights. I just loved the way school uniforms look, so rather than trying to abuse my position of power, I backed off and started wearing one on my own.
comforting, at times...
comforting. i enjoy the uniform on public figures, and myself. sort of like a definition. when i am in a current "phase" it gives me the freedom to work on other projects like my photography and life goals.
constraining
It's funny because in high school I had to fight against the uniform and now I have one but by choice.
